Did you know that your root is a natural, biological implant and an ALTERNATIVE TO DENTAL IMPLANTS?

If your anatomical natural tooth crown has been lost due to decay or trauma, the remaining root of the tooth can be used as a natural implant. By performing root canal treatment (also known as endodontic treatment) and placing a post & crown, the tooth can be restored while avoiding: surgical extraction; placement of an artificial implant; and all the associated potential complications like pain, swelling, bruising, periimplantitis and very often a waiting time period of 3 months or even more only to start with the process of crown preparation.

The cost of implant work is significantly more expensive. The cost of post and crown fitted into the root is significantly cheaper than an implant with abutment and crown especially if the broken tooth is already after root canal treatment.
What is a post?
A post, much like the abutment of an implant, provides us with the necessary structure to ensure the stability and retention of the subsequent crown. It is usually a metal or fiberglass construction that is customized to fit the root canals of your tooth and restore the missing tooth structure similarly to the implant abutment.
The biggest advantage is a pain free and very fast (3 DAYS! ) process from start to finish not requiring taking out the tooth/roots and significantly smaller cost then dental implant work. The case shown below had total cost of €1200. If this tooth were to be extracted and an implant placed, a significant time period is always required for the process of osteointegration to take place prior to being able to place a crown on said implant.
